Captain Joe Carraway and his wife Captain Katie Carraway, founders of North Florida Fishing Camp and Tides Fishing Company, are dedicated charter captains committed to passing on their love for saltwater fishing to young anglers. Based in Jacksonville, FL, with a second location in St. Augustine, their camps have become a sought-after summer experience, drawing in hundreds of children eager to learn everything from casting techniques to reeling in large offshore catches. Known for their hands-on, engaging instruction, the Carraways create an inclusive environment that accommodates all skill levels, sparking a passion for fishing in each camper.

Joe, a Jacksonville native, grew his passion for fishing while working at Browns Creek Fish Camp as a teenager, where he absorbed knowledge from local charter and shrimp boat captains. Competing in Jacksonville’s Kingfish tournaments, Flounder Pounder, and kayak competitions, he honed his skills and built lifelong connections with the fishing community. After high school, Joe served four years in the U.S. Navy and then pursued a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan. Returning to Jacksonville, he channeled his expertise and passion into creating North Florida Fishing Camp, a camp designed to share his love of fishing with future generations.

Katie, originally from Columbus, Ohio, grew up enjoying hunting and fishing trips with her father. Her appreciation for saltwater fishing began in Virginia Beach, where Joe and her stationed. Her passion for teaching and working with children naturally led her to play an integral role in their camps. Katie brings warmth and enthusiasm to every camp session, inspiring young campers to explore, learn, and develop a respect for marine life and fishing.

Together, Joe and Katie have built a unique program that fosters a love of fishing, builds skills, and instills confidence in young anglers while creating unforgettable memories on the water.
